Why helicopter?
Helicopter travel unlocks Iceland’s “impossible” geography—places that are remote, weather-dependent, or simply too time-consuming to reach by road. With a private aircraft and a PTI-planned itinerary, you gain access, flexibility and a day that feels genuinely rare.
- Remote landings on ridgelines, glaciers and highland plateaus
- Flexible routing to follow the best light and conditions
- More time experiencing, less time in transit
Signature helicopter moments
Every journey is bespoke, but these are the experiences guests most often request.
- Glacier landing for a guided walk on the ice and panoramic photos
- Volcanic landscapes—craters, lava fields and geothermal ridges seen from above
- Hidden hot springs reached via remote valley landings (season/conditions permitting)
- Coastal cliffs & waterfalls with landings timed for the quietest moments
How the day typically flows
We begin with a private briefing, confirm weather windows and set a route that balances flight time, landings and comfort. PTI can arrange transfers, refreshments and a celebratory lunch—whether that’s a restaurant reservation back in Reykjavík or a remote picnic with a view.
- Pickup & briefing (hotel or arranged meeting point)
- 1–3 scenic legs with planned landings for photos / short walks
- Optional add-ons (private guide, photographer, proposal setup, champagne toast)
Best season
Helicopter journeys operate year-round, but the best fit depends on what you want to see. Summer brings long light and highland access; winter offers dramatic contrasts and aurora potential when conditions align.
- May–September: Highlands, long daylight, more landing options
- October–April: Snow drama, winter light, strong photography days on clear weather
