History Meets Modern Reykjavík

A characterful boutique hotel in Reykjavík’s historic centre, blending 19th-century heritage with contemporary Nordic style and intimate hospitality.

Reykjavík Konsúlat Hotel sits in one of the oldest parts of the city, where Icelandic history and contemporary Reykjavík meet.

The hotel occupies a beautifully restored building once associated with Consul Ditlev Thomsen and his family’s historic department store. Its interiors draw on that story through vintage details, historic photography and eclectic design, while providing the comfort expected of a modern luxury hotel.

Boutique rooms and suites create a calm retreat from the city outside, while the Konsúlat Wine Room provides an intimate place to unwind.

Why we love it

For travellers who prefer character over convention, Konsúlat offers a distinctly Reykjavík experience with history woven into almost every corner.

ROOMS & SUITES

Reykjavík Konsúlat’s rooms and suites draw directly from the hotel’s history. Original architectural details, historic references and vintage touches are combined with contemporary comfort throughout the accommodation. From classic and deluxe rooms to the Premier, Diplomat and Konsúlat Suites, each space has its own character, with the larger suites offering separate living areas and distinctive city views.

DINING & SOCIAL SPACES

The Konsúlat Wine Room provides an intimate place to settle in with a glass of wine and something from the bar menu. The hotel’s social spaces continue the property’s historic character, creating a relaxed atmosphere that feels more like a private townhouse than a conventional city hotel. Guests can also retreat to the hotel’s bathhouse, where a hot tub, sauna and original 19th-century stone wall create a distinctly Icelandic place to unwind.
